Birds landing and taking off in water can give some cool effects. Here's a warm and sunny day with a few Black-headed gulls in the water.

The bird island of Finnmark - Part 1
One of my best trips so far took place on Hornøya for about 1 week ago. I met a friend and two others from the swedish Nikon community Nikonforum and we had a blast for 3 days. Also, the weather was on our side.
Last year I was here and got some good shots of the birds in midnight sun, but this time I got home with some new and interesting material. I've been inspired by other photographers traveling here and getting amazing shots of birds in snow, so that was my main plan. Too bad the weather conditions weren't as I was hoping, with lots and lots of snow. But, you can never complain... there's always something to catch when you are on a photography trip.
Since I have many shots I'd like to share im going to split it up. I'll post the next part in a few days or so.

Strength of Dovre
I had a great and extra long weekend in Dovrefjell national park with two friends from UK. The target was the norwegian Muskox. Binomial name: Ovibos moschatus.
Our trip started with scouting on first day and also a tough hike into the mountains with loose snow in hard and cold wind. The weather conditions were good for the photography but we had no success in finding any Muskoxen that first day. Second day was nice when the weather gave us alot of snow, wind and good light. We also found a group of seven males. Here are some of the results from that session:

Every next day we hiked longer than the previous day. The snow was heavy sometimes and even if you sank down a bit you were happy to have the snowshoes. We walked about 60 kilometers total. We stayed at Kongsvold Fjeldstue which is a very good accommodation for those who want comfort and excellent food. It's also close to the mountains and a good starting point for the hiking.
Third day was more a day of hiking but we saw another group of seven muskoxen. These seemed to be bothered of our presence so we keept a good distance and Instead we enjoyed the view around us.
Here are some of the other shots on day 4 and 5:

Muskoxen are really tough animals. Just imagine a cold day with strong wind and snow that whips your face while they are just hanging around on the hillside.

Birds from Stokka
This weekend was devoted for common birds around Stokka lake, near my home. I worked mostly with Gulls and Blackbirds. The European Robin also gave me a few visits.

The weather was unsteady with some shifting from sun to sudden wind and snow. It gave me some interesting moments.

Bean Geese in the winter wind
The winter came this weekend, with lots of snow and strong wind. The temperature fell down and the wind was freezing cold. I spent my weekend outside on the lowlands of Jæren taking shots on nature in its weather conditions and birds. I noticed a herd of Bean Geese flying back and forth several times.

Winter and Pulpit Rock
I like this place, not too hard and usually takes one hour. In the winter season it's a bit more challenging and takes rougly about 2 hours if you count without skis or snow shoes. Also, the tracks can be harder to find.

Refreshing...
Updating the blog with two photos from a small trip I had in late October last year. My activity here has been bad and I have my reasons. This year will be different.
